About The Position

Responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of programs and activities for The Landing, ensuring programming is timely, engaging, relevant, varied, and evidence-based when appropriate, supporting the interests and needs of adults 55+. This role involves assessing member interests, community needs, and programming data to identify opportunities and gaps. It also requires developing and maintaining relationships with community organizations and partners to expand and enhance programming, coordinating the full program process from concept to evaluation, and overseeing day-to-day program coordination. The position monitors participation, member feedback, and program costs to evaluate effectiveness and makes recommendations for program adjustments. Additionally, it ensures all program materials, spaces, and supplies are prepared. The role also focuses on member engagement by providing exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming environment, building authentic relationships with members, and responding to their feedback. Administrative duties include coordinating with partners, gathering program information, scheduling, identifying supply needs, managing program costs, completing required documentation, and maintaining accurate program information in Daxko. The position requires flexibility in work schedule, potentially including evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred in human services, business, social services, recreation, gerontology, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Knowledge of healthy aging concepts and experience working with adults 55+ preferred.
  • Understanding of the mission, purpose, and operations of The Landing and the YMCA, including the respective roles of staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain authentic, constructive relationships with diverse individuals and groups representing all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and creative-thinking skills.
  • Minimum of two years of customer service experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in programming, recreation, community collaboration, event coordination, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with members, volunteers, staff, presenters, and community partners.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, calendar systems, and database/program registration systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in human services, business, social services, recreation, gerontology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of healthy aging concepts and experience working with adults 55+ preferred.
  • Experience with Canva or similar graphic design systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing member interests, community needs, and programming data to identify opportunities, gaps, and emerging needs.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with community organizations, businesses, professionals, educators, and other partners to expand and enhance programming.
  • Working collaboratively with existing partners and seeking new partnerships to provide high-quality programs and experiences for members.
  • Coordinating the full program process from initial concept through completion and evaluation.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day coordination of programs.
  • Monitoring participation, member feedback, program costs, and other relevant metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and inform future programming decisions.
  • Making recommendations regarding programs to continue, modify, expand, or discontinue based on participation, member feedback, outcomes, and available resources.
  • Ensuring program information, materials, spaces, supplies, and other details are prepared prior to program delivery.
  • Providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for members and community participants.
  • Building authentic relationships with members and developing an understanding of their interests, talents, skills, and areas of expertise.
  • Seeking and responding to member feedback and insights to strengthen the overall member experience.
  • Working collaboratively with staff to ensure programs and activities reflect the mission and values of The Landing and the YMCA.
  • Working directly with community partners, presenters, instructors, and individuals to develop and coordinate programs.
  • Gathering program descriptions, presenter information, promotional materials, and other information necessary to implement programs.
  • Scheduling programs and reserving appropriate rooms and locations.
  • Identifying supply and equipment needs and submitting requests for materials to be ordered.
  • Completing program cost calculations and monitoring program-related expenses.
  • Obtaining required documentation from paid providers, including applicable tax and payment information.
  • Completing required program checklists and administrative processes.
  • Entering and maintaining accurate program information in Daxko.
  • Creating or coordinating program flyers and other promotional materials.
  • Completing required payment and follow-up processes for program providers.
  • Working collaboratively with The Landing and YMCA staff to support organizational goals and a positive member experience.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a growing and changing environment.
  • Maintaining a variable work schedule that may include evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
