About The Position

Mercy Housing, the nation's largest nonprofit affordable housing provider, is seeking a Community Coordinator for Cranes Landing, Denver's first Native American-centered affordable housing community. This on-site role focuses on supporting resident wellbeing by identifying needs, monitoring the building, and responding to resident issues and emergencies. Candidates with lived experience are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two-years work experience in social services or customer service-related field.
Experience applying the principles of conflict management, and organizing groups, events, or programs.
Communicate clearly with visitors and residents.
Ability to remain calm and de-escalate in a variety of situations.
Decide when an incident is an emergency and take appropriate action.
Maintain confidentiality.
Function effectively in an environment with diverse cultures, multiple perspectives, and lines of authority.
Ability to treat a variety of people with respect and compassion.
Flexible, resourceful, creative, and able to take initiative.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Keep accurate log of all visitors to the property by recording the name of the visitor(s).
Convey accurate information to the appropriate authorities, as necessary.
Fulfill office functions: answer phones, respond to property inquiries, respond to emails, etc.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of residents (conduct needs assessments, community meetings, etc.) to offer residents, the opportunity to assist their community and to guide them towards appropriate services and resources.
Identify and develop strategies to link residents with needed services, including assisting them to overcome various barriers that might impede maintaining housing stability and/or access to those services.
Work with site team and residents to develop activities program to serve the specific targeted resident group and facilitate gatherings of various kinds.
Respond to emergency situations by calling the appropriate emergency service (e.g., police, fire department, ambulance, paramedics).
Work collaboratively with the site team to develop annual property plans and engage residents in this process to develop leadership skills.
