The Textile Sales Associate receives, sorts, prices, tags, and stocks donated textiles, helping move donations quickly from the drive-thru to the sales floor and supporting the smooth operation of a fast-paced retail store. The position reports to the Store Manager and/or Production Manager, who evaluates performance annually. The associate is expected to understand Goodwill’s mission, “Empower people to achieve their most abundant life,” and embody its core values: Relentless Pursuit of Excellence, Customer-First Mindset, Humble Confidence, Passion for Mission, and Do The Right Thing. Compensation is tied to processing speed. The training rate is $11 per hour while working toward a target of 80 pieces per hour (PPH), which employees have four weeks to achieve. Management will provide coaching and ongoing support if the target is not met; after eight weeks, termination may be considered if the target remains unmet and no qualifying open position is available. Reaching 80 PPH increases pay to $15 per hour. Higher rates are available for sustained performance: $16 per hour for a three-week average of at least 91 PPH, and $17 per hour for a three-week average of at least 111 PPH. Employees must maintain the applicable production rate to retain high-performer pay; a three-week improvement period applies if performance falls below the relevant level. Daily recording of PPH is mandatory and may affect pay if not completed. Z-racks count as 100 pieces per rack. This is a full-time, day-shift retail position at the Merrill Point store in Merrillville, Indiana. The listed starting rate is $11 per hour, subject to state minimum wage regulations or the prevailing rate at the location.
