About The Position

TRC, Member of WSP, is seeking a highly motivated and diverse Testing & Commissioning Intern for its Summer 2027 internship program, based out of the New York Office. This is a paid, full-time position expected to run from June through August 2027, with flexible dates. The role may transition to a full-time position upon graduation. The intern will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists to support testing and commissioning of electrical transmission and distribution substations.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation for travel to client sites, and a clean driving record.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel out of town weekly.
• Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Test and commission protective relays for electrical transmission and distribution substations.
• Work under experienced TRC staff to test and verify the functionality of substation protection and control systems.
• Become familiar with various types of test equipment and with testing and commissioning processes and procedures.
• Read and interpret design drawings to understand the engineering design and confirm its intent.
