About The Position

Reporting to the Associate Director of the Ross Center for Students with Disabilities, the Testing Center (TC) Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of managing a full-service testing center for UMB students with disabilities that require exam accommodations. The TC Coordinator oversees and evaluates all testing activities and coordinates access and support for students using the Ross Center information software system, reviews testing contracts, creates accessible formats of exams, and manages a reservation process for proctoring requests from faculty. The incumbent will develop relationships with faculty, staff, administrators and external partners, and will collaborate with them to offer an array of activities in the testing center in compliance with Federal disability statute that assist with student retention and program development. They will uphold and enforce the University Code of Conduct and will ensure the highest ethical standards of a secure, quiet and safe testing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree must be completed before the time of hire.
  • A minimum of two years of direct student service or academic support is required.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse populations is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with test administration platforms i.e., Blackboard and Canvas is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the AIM information system is preferred.
  • Knowledge of various assistive technology that students with disabilities may use is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in test administration is preferred.
  • Knowledge of current student development theory and research;
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and guidelines on Section 504/ADA and FERPA;
  • Knowledge of best practice test administration principles and technical test delivery models;
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in time sensitive situations;
  • Demonstrated strategic management and planning skills;

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate testing accommodations as needed for qualified students with disabilities in collaboration with the Ross Center
  • Hire, train and supervise 5-7 student proctors
  • Maintain the testing module in the Ross Center information system for staff, students and faculty.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of students' test requests via department information system
  • Stay up to date with technological advances in the testing profession
  • Liaison with Ross Center staff regarding student accommodation needs
  • Provide counseling for test-anxious students and refer students to other academic support services as appropriate
  • Coordinate with unit IT to ensure that all technical requirements for use of Assistive Technology are met
  • Work with the Associate Director of the Ross Center for Disability Services to project Testing Center spending needs
  • Cultivate partnerships with administrators, faculty and staff across campus
  • Develop and market training modules and education about Testing Center processes and services for registered students and faculty and outside constituents via the Ross Center website and publications
  • Monitor alternate format requests and collaborate with internal and external libraries and publishers to obtain and edit accessible documents
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
