About The Position

The Testing Center Coordinator manages the daily operations of the Testing Center, ensuring that students with approved testing accommodations receive equitable access to assessments in accordance with university policies, accessibility standards, and applicable disability laws. This position serves as the primary liaison among students, faculty, and Disability Services staff to coordinate accommodated testing services. In addition, the Testing Center Coordinator oversees the administration and proctoring of make-up assessments for all Calvin University students, working closely with faculty members to ensure secure, efficient, and professional testing services. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining testing integrity, confidentiality, and compliance while creating a supportive, student-centered environment. The position also provides leadership for the testing center's student staff, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student proctors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience in higher education, student services, disability services, testing administration, academic support, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technology systems used for scheduling, recordkeeping, and communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, including students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer exams for students approved for testing accommodations through Disability Services and make-up exams for the university.
  • Schedule exams and manage testing center reservations, resources, and space utilization.
  • Maintain secure handling, storage, distribution, and return of examinations.
  • Monitor testing environments to ensure compliance with university policies and academic integrity standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing appointments, accommodations provided, and testing center utilization.
  • Troubleshoot testing-related issues and implement solutions that support student access and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary contact for faculty regarding accommodated testing procedures and policies.
  • Communicate with professors to obtain testing materials, instructions, and return procedures.
  • Assist students in scheduling accommodated examinations and understanding testing center expectations.
  • Provide timely and professional communication to students, faculty, and staff regarding testing services.
  • Educate faculty and students about testing center procedures, accommodation implementation, and testing protocols.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, schedule, and supervise student testing center proctors.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and operational procedures for student staff.
  • Train proctors on accommodation implementation, testing procedures, confidentiality requirements, customer service expectations, and academic integrity standards.
  • Manage student employee scheduling to ensure adequate staffing during peak testing periods and university exam cycles.
  • Monitor proctor performance and ensure consistent adherence to testing center policies and procedures.
  • Support university compliance with applicable disability laws and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student disability information and educational records in accordance with FERPA and university policies.
  • Collaborate with Disability Services staff to promote inclusive and accessible learning environments.
  • Stay informed regarding best practices in disability accommodations, testing administration, accessibility services, and higher education compliance.
  • Assist in the assessment and continuous improvement of testing center services and processes.
