About The Position

The Test Technician I will perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on single phase and three phase medium voltage UPS systems. This role requires a strong adherence to quality, ensuring all products and parts meet Eaton’s quality guidelines, and performing quality checks. Responsibilities include reading electronic schematics, reporting non-conformance items, recommending product enhancements for quality, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. The technician will communicate with various production and engineering teams to resolve daily production and warranty issues, maintain equipment to ISO 9000:2000 standards, and identify/implement corrective actions for laboratory tools and manufacturing equipment. The position also involves maintaining a clean and organized work area using 5S+ principles.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required
  • A minimum of one year of work experience in electronics with testing and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic knowledge of Electronic Test Measurement Devices
  • Manufacturing systems knowledge (KANBAN, JIT, Production scheduling)
  • Knowledge of switchboard and switchgear operations; electrical and electronic devices
  • Demonstrated ability to take and give direction
  • Ability to use good judgment and problem solving skills to make informed decisions
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
  • Basic computer knowledge of Windows based operating systems and programs
  • Ability to read and understand formal, informal drawings, and/or electronic schematics
  • Ability to completely test and troubleshoot electronic products
  • Ability to work daily and/or weekend overtime, willingness to flex to different areas or local plants as needed
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish colored wiring
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting is inherent to this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in electronics from an accredited school
  • Previous experience with DC battery currents
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office Applications

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position. Ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton’s quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process and perform quality checks as instructed.
  • Read electronic schematics to ensure products meet defined specifications
  • Report any Non-conformance items by utilizing our Quality Management Guidelines
  • Recommend modifications and improvements to enhance the products for quality, reliability, manufacturability and cost effectiveness
  • Communicate with Production Associates, Quality Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Engineers and Test Engineers to resolve daily production and warranty issues
  • Check maintain equipment to ensure compliance with ISO 9000:2000 standards
  • Identify and implement corrective actions for the repair, replacement and calibration of laboratory tools and manufacturing equipment
  • Use the principles of 5S+ to ensure a clean and organized work area
