The Test Technician at Bren-Tronics, part of EnerSys and manufacturer of advanced power solutions, is responsible for testing and troubleshooting defective electronic sub-assemblies, batteries, chargers, and accessories detected during the manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • Technical/ trade education or equivalent vocational training in manufacture industry
  • Minimum of 3+ of technical experience or related experience in Test Technician or similar role.
  • Understanding of circuit boards, microprocessors, chips, and computer hardware and software
  • Understanding of how to use testing equipment to troubleshoot and interpret test manuals, specifications, and related document.
  • Problem solving skills, self-motivated with results driven approach.
  • Soldering and electrical assembly, reflecting a level of craftsmanship and technical skill.
  • Math skills and calculations and interpret results to aid testing process.
  • Ability to operate production and office equipment.
  • Critical, organizational, interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication.
  • The candidate must be able to work in a Production floor and collaborate with team members.
  • Visual acuity to observe and analyze product parts, defects, and test results.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, for extended periods of time and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.

Nice To Haves

  • Solderer 454 certificate or surface mount soldering skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematic, diagrams, enabling comprehensive analysis and troubleshooting to the component level
  • Document test results and inspection data, comparing findings with specifications to ensure product conformity to company standards.
  • Repair or rework products/ components using electrical-mechanical assembly and soldering methods.
  • Calculate, collect test data and results to verify results are adherent to functional specification.
  • Participate in prototype assembly and the New Product Team to grasp product requirements and assist troubleshooting and facilitate in product transition to production department.
  • Identify and explain issues related to product quality, efficiency, and effectiveness to other team members to finalize resolutions and participate in implementations.
  • Assist to accomplish system level repair/rework tasks or assembly, including reliable SMT component or microchip replacement as needed.
  • Perform tests on assembled batteries, chargers, power supplies, and related wiring boards using tools like testing meters, oscilloscopes, and calipers.
  • Perform additional task as required.
