Learn more about us here - About Sea-Bird Scientific This Test Technician III operates at an advanced level within test and validation, with responsibilities that span multiple functional areas including production testing, troubleshooting, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination. The Test Technician III plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing environment while consistently meeting test throughput, quality standards, and delivery targets. The position is responsible for performing, monitoring, and troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical test processes. This includes diagnosing failures, supporting root cause analysis, and resolving issues related to instrumentation, test equipment, and integrated systems to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. In addition to technical execution, this role provides leadership support on the production floor by guiding team members, assisting with training, and driving adherence to standard work and safety protocols. The technician actively contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, including optimizing test procedures, improving first-pass yield, and enhancing overall test performance. The Test Technician III also collaborates cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations teams to resolve test-related constraints, improve product reliability, and support on-time delivery. This includes coordinating information and resources across internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment with business objectives. This role is designed for individuals who demonstrate a high level of technical expertise, ownership, and leadership capability, often acting as a bridge between technicians and supervisors. While not a formal management position, it carries significant responsibility in influencing team performance, supporting daily test operations, and driving execution across multiple areas within the manufacturing and validation environment. This role reports to the Production Supervisor, Manufacturing & Operations. This is an onsite, day shift role and will be part of our Sea-Bird Scientific Manufacturing & Operations Team in our Bellevue, WA location. In this role, a typical day will look like: Perform quality pre-checks on components and parts required to complete a job Follow detailed instructions in a variety of formats (i.e, drawings, schematics, bills of material, internal procedures or some combination thereof), and report work completed on a daily basis Perform quality checks on completed assemblies, as needed Understand and meet quality and delivery requirements Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing best practices Lead, or assist Lead with Kaizen events Work off-shift, as needed, to support department, meet deadlines or to maximize up-time on machinery/processes. Interpret most test results and evaluate most data independently Assess issues, apply problem-solving, and troubleshoot to develop solutions Understand how department relates to others in the company; has a broad understanding of how Operations groups fit together Identify opportunities for improvement and provide recommendation to Supervisor Recognize and report problems with quality, processes, equipment or materials to Manufacturing Lead, Supervisor or Operations Manager, and assist with highly complex troubleshooting Provide hands-on job function training to coworkers as needed, and act as an informal resource

Requirements

  • A minimum of a 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read, interpret, and use engineering drawings and schematics
  • Ability to learn new computer software programs
  • Excellent electro-mechanical skills, including troubleshooting
  • Excellent attention to detail, and ability to perform precise procedures consistently
  • Basic knowledge of necessary instruments and tools
