Test Operations Engineer II - TeraWave

Blue Origin•Denver, WA

About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide. Blue Origin is seeking a Test Operations Engineer II to join the AI&T team on the Terawave program. In this role you will execute space vehicle-level development and environmental test campaigns — including TVAC, vibration, acoustic, and EMI/EMC testing — with increasing autonomy alongside senior engineers. You will develop test procedures, capture and reduce data, and contribute to a team qualifying satellites for high-rate production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in hardware test, system integration, or environmental test in aerospace, defense, or a closely related field.
  • Experience executing or supporting environmental test campaigns (TVAC, vibration, acoustic, shock, or thermal test).
  • Experience developing or executing formal test procedures in a controlled documentation environment.
  • Familiarity with anomaly reporting and configuration management processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear, complete test reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle test at the subsystem or vehicle level.
  • Background with EMI/EMC test execution or test support.
  • Experience with HIL bench operation or real-time telemetry monitoring.
  • Familiarity with automated test tools (Python, LabVIEW, GSEOS, or similar).
  • Experience using PDM/PLM systems for procedure control (Windchill or equivalent).
  • Background with ESD controls and aerospace workmanship standards.

Responsibilities

  • Execute space vehicle-level development tests and environmental test campaigns per approved test plans and procedures.
  • Support environmental test campaigns: TVAC, vibration, acoustic, shock, and thermal cycling; perform equipment checks and monitor test article health.
  • Execute EMI/EMC tests; operate test instrumentation and record compliance data against acceptance limits.
  • Operate the HIL bench during integration and functional test campaigns; monitor real-time telemetry and escalate off-nominal conditions.
  • Capture and reduce test data; support authoring of formal test reports and anomaly disposition.
  • Develop test procedures under senior engineer guidance; drive procedures through internal review and release.
  • Incorporate procedure red-line mark-ups and update documentation following test execution.
  • Support test readiness gate preparations: hardware inventories, configuration verification, and test setup checklists.
  • Maintain bench orderliness, configuration accountability, and ESD/FOD compliance.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
