The Test Lab Engineer is responsible for qualifying and validating products developed by the R&D team. This role involves planning and executing verification tests, analyzing results, and ensuring the availability and proper operation of test equipment. The engineer identifies potential risks and provides feedback throughout the Product Create Process (PCP) and Product Improvement Process (PIP).

Requirements

  • Proficiency in problem-solving methodologies (e.g., D-FMEA, 8D, A3, 5 Whys)
  • Strong product knowledge and hands-on testing experience
  • Background in vacuum technology and customer process applications
  • Ability to operate DAQ systems and test equipment using automation and scripting tools
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, interpretation, simulation, and modeling
  • Experience in statistical analysis and reliability engineering (e.g., Weibull, DOE)
  • Familiarity with test benches and standard test procedures
  • Technical writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Understanding of quality standards and systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP)
  • Knowledge of certification and compliance testing processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electronic, or related fields) or equivalent practical skills
  • Equivalent technical education or training in product testing
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical support or related testing activities
  • Basic proficiency in English (or equivalent language skills)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in early-stage product development and provide testability feedback
  • Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (D-FMEA)
  • Perform risk assessments prior to testing
  • Manage test documentation and ensure traceability of results
  • Operate and maintain test facilities and equipment
  • Handle test samples and components
  • Coordinate and support regulatory and compliance testing (e.g., CE, UL, ISO)
  • Develop and manage test processes aligned with R&D objectives
  • Establish reliability test plans based on product requirements
  • Analyze test results to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Communicate findings with cross-functional teams to support product improvement
