Test Failure Analyst

ZT Systems•Secaucus, NJ

About The Position

The Test Failure Analyst drives manufacturing test yield performance through failure analysis, yield management, and cross-functional issue resolution. The role coordinates manufacturing, test engineering, quality, firmware, hardware, and system engineering teams to ensure failures are documented, investigated, and resolved with sustainable preventive actions. The analyst owns yield performance across new product introduction (NPI) and production programs, analyzes test and repair data, maintains yield and failure reporting, and leads investigation and corrective-action processes. The role also supports factory operations through issue triage, escalation management, and recovery planning, while helping improve test processes, repair procedures, operational efficiency, and manufacturing readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Engineering, Operations Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, quality, analytics, program management, test engineering, or a related environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to organize and track multiple issues while driving actions across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Experience documenting processes, investigations, and corrective actions in a structured and organized manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing operations, quality management, testing, failure analysis, or supply chain environments.
  • Familiarity with KPI tracking, yield analysis, root cause methodologies, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of hardware products, electronics manufacturing, server systems, or data center technologies.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams through issue management and project coordination.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or other data visualization and analytics tools.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or exposure to process improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage manufacturing test yield performance across NPI and production programs.
  • Develop and maintain yield bridge analysis to quantify yield gains and losses and identify primary yield detractors.
  • Analyze test and repair data to identify failure trends, recurring issues, and emerging quality risks.
  • Lead cross-functional reviews to prioritize yield-impacting failures and drive root cause investigations.
  • Coordinate debug activities across Failure Analysis, Test, Quality, Firmware, Hardware, System Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Ensure manufacturing test failures are documented, classified, and tracked throughout the investigation lifecycle.
  • Maintain traceability between failure symptoms, root causes, corrective actions, and resulting yield improvements.
  • Establish and manage a centralized failure database and knowledge repository.
  • Publish regular yield, failure, and corrective action reports for engineering leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Drive containment plans, corrective actions, and long-term preventive measures for quality and yield issues.
  • Monitor corrective action effectiveness and verify sustained resolution of identified issues.
  • Support factory operations with rapid issue triage, escalation management, and recovery planning for critical yield events.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing teams to improve test processes, repair procedures, and operational efficiencies.
  • Capture and communicate lessons learned to improve future product launches and manufacturing readiness.
