About The Position

The Test Facilities Engineer plays a critical, hands-on role at the heart of our aircraft engine test operations. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys being close to the hardware, solving real-world technical problems, and shaping the future of test infrastructure. You will be a key contributor to the modernization, reliability, and expansion of our test cells, including participation in the design and construction of up to two new test cells. At FTAI Aviation, this is not a maintenance-only role. You will actively influence technical decisions, lead upgrades, support capital projects, and work closely with test engineers, technicians, suppliers, and leadership to continuously improve our testing capabilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineering or relevant technical experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting industrial facilities (test aerospace environment strongly preferred)
  • Strong hands-on experience with instrumentation, controls, and power distribution
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks) for electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Understanding of P&IDs, control logic, and ladder logic programming
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Comfortable operating in a production operational environment with live test activities
  • Fluent in English and French (spoken and written)

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical support for test cell facilities, including electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems
  • Review, update, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation drawings (P&ID, control schematics)
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to test cell hardware, instrumentation, controls, and software interfaces
  • Define and implement modernization initiatives (obsolete equipment replacement, system upgrades, reliability improvements)
  • Involvement in Requests for Quotation (RFQs), technical specifications, and scope of work for equipment and services
  • Support procurement activities, including technical evaluations and supplier coordination
  • Develop work instructions and technical documentation for equipment upgrades and wiring modifications
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to test engineers, technicians, and maintenance teams
  • Participate in projects related to test accuracy, safety, automation, and data acquisition
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards
