About The Position

We are excited to announce the opening of a full-time internship in our Production Engineering Department, starting in Fall 2026. This internship will run for a duration of four (4) months and will be conducted under the guidance of the Manager, Test Engineering. The Grass Valley Test Engineering team focuses on supporting new product introduction (NPI) by developing and implementing production test solutions. It also provides ongoing support for existing products in the factory. Standard deliverables include the development of test strategies and processes, the design and validation of test fixtures, the creation of embedded test firmware and diagnostic software, the development of test utilities and tools, and the creation of automated test system sequences. The team also supports the transition of new products from engineering to the final manufacturing site and ensures the long-term sustainability of test solutions. The intern will collaborate with test engineering peers and cross-functional team members to develop the overall manufacturing test plan and associate technical documentation for the project.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an internship program and working towards obtaining a bachelor’s degree in mechatronics or a related program
  • Ability to do electrical and mechanical design required
  • Fluency in French and English, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of English appropriate to the duties is required, as this project involves working in a bilingual environment and performing certain tasks that require an understanding of English
  • Intrapersonal and communication skills to support working with a wide variety of personalities within a geographically dispersed team
  • Experience with the use and basic configuration of networking interfaces required; TCP/IP, Telnet, FTP, SNMP; basic network debug skills desired
  • Experience with SW revision control and bug tracking systems is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and understanding of different broadcast audio and video interface formats and associated standards is desired: Video: Analog composite, Analog component, SD SDI, HD SDI, 3G, 4K, video reference formats, timecode, IP video
  • Advanced PC knowledge in the following areas is desired: HW drivers, custom SW and low-level OS settings
  • Experience and understanding of common instrument communication interfaces and associated software tools is desired: Serial RS232 & RS422
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook, SharePoint, Atlassian Confluence, and Jira are considered an asset
  • Software programming experience under windows is desired. Embedded, real time, SW development experience is considered an asset
  • GIT, Stash, SVN or Rational ClearCase experience, an asset
  • Experience with SolidWorks is suitable.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with Test Engineering peers, cross-functional team members, and program management to develop an understanding of the product and the testing objectives.
  • Contributes to the development, validation, and deployment of automated production test solutions for PCBA, product, and system-level validation as defined by the overall manufacturing test plan.
  • Develop technical work procedures and support/reference documentation for production test solutions.
  • Develop, document, and manage a Test Engineering project task list and schedule.
  • Maintain and execute assigned tasks in alignment with the overall project schedule and milestones.
