About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Mid-Level Test Engineer who is passionate about quality, automation, and continuous improvement to join their team in Springfield, VA. In this role, you will help ensure that mission-critical systems meet stringent functional and non-functional requirements, supporting warfighters and safeguarding national security. As a Test Engineer, you will define, develop, and execute test plans and automated scripts to validate software functionality, performance, and security. You will collaborate closely with software developers, systems engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure solutions meet functional, performance, security, and compliance requirements across DoD environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years in software testing, quality assurance, or related roles.
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance must currently be possessed.
  • Top Secret SCI + Polygraph clearance must be obtainable.
  • US Citizenship Required.
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, test life cycles, and software development life cycles (SDLC).
  • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
  • Experience with load and performance testing tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or Gatling.
  • Hands-on experience with test case management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr, qTest).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for test automation, data generation, and reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Security+, ISTQB (Foundation or Advanced), Certified JMeter Performance Tester, or similar certifications
  • Understanding of security testing practices and tools (e.g., Nessus, OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite) is a plus.
  • Experience working with Agile, Scrum, or SAFe teams.
  • Knowledge of DoD environments, STIG compliance, and security authorization processes (RMF, ATO) is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing.
  • Perform manual and automated testing using industry-standard tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, Postman, JMeter, Cypress).
  • Implement and manage automated test pipelines in CI/CD environments (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), supporting Shift-Left testing and rapid feedback.
  • Conduct system validation and verification, log defects, and support triage and resolution efforts with development and engineering teams.
  • Create and maintain traceability matrices to ensure complete coverage of system requirements.
  • Support test readiness reviews, audits, and stakeholder demonstrations with clear test evidence and metrics.
  • Work within Agile and DevSecOps frameworks to provide timely test feedback and support sprint and release deliverables.
  • Participate in test data creation, environment setup, and configuration for both classified and unclassified networks.
  • Collaborate with developers, operations, and security teams to drive early bug detection, quality improvements, and continuous testing practices.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for test procedures, findings, and quality metrics to support accreditation and customer reporting.
