About The Position

This position supports the Federal Aviation Administration/FAA air traffic control maintenance activities for the Traffic Flow Managment System (TFMS). Provides expertise in the application of state-of-the-art and aging technology to meet mission requirements. Provides second level engineering technical support for large complex NAS programs and systems, including, but not limited to: Air traffic and flight operations data analysis; Pilot and air traffic controller information processing; Systems engineering; and Network engineering. The Engineer supports second level engineering business processes and business process reengineering and may also support specialty engineering (e.g., communications, systems safety, quality assurance, test and evaluation, etc.); human factors, risks and mitigation strategies, reliability and maintainability, systems security. Provides consulting and advisory services to project, operations and engineering teams. Directly participates and coordinates with the internal and external subject matter experts on all matters pertinent to the successful implementation of the program or functional area. Conducts and/or participates with program reviews and meetings, as applicable.

Requirements

  • Linux/Unix operating environment
  • Proficient with command line tools for file and directory management, process monitoring, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Log inspection and analysis.
  • Experience executing and supporting scripts, batch processes, or analytical tools in Linux/Unix environments.

Nice To Haves

  • NAS/HOST experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides second level engineering technical support for large complex NAS programs and systems.

  • Conducts and/or participates with program reviews and meetings, as applicable.
  • Execution of engineering tasks in support of system integration, operational readiness, deployment and sustainment activities.
  • Ability to interpret system requirements, interface specifications, and configuration documentation.
  • Experience supporting test events, system validation, or operational assessments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across application, data, and OS layers under senior engineer guidance.
  • Additional duties as required by the FAA.
