Cimarron is seeking a Mid-level Lead Fault & Autonomy Engineer to support an opportunity in Seal Beach, California, with potential options to work from El Segundo, California; Aurora, Colorado; or Herndon, Virginia, based on candidate eligibility. The role contributes to developing first-of-kind space vehicles, ground systems, and missions, many of which support predominantly classified programs. The engineer will work with system architects, ConOps developers, fault and autonomy designers, and teams across systems, hardware, software, power, payload, thermal, communications, and test engineering. Development timelines are aggressive, and the work involves solving previously unsolved problems in minimally defined design spaces. The position supports technology integration and development, fault-tolerant system design, and autonomy appropriate to customer risk tolerance. It includes failure analysis, onboard fault-protection requirements, and designing autonomy or ground procedures to recover from failures. The engineer will prepare review packages for senior leadership and provide occasional on-call support for system anomalies. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, hold an active Top Secret security clearance, and be able to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening. Access to federal facilities requires a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. Cimarron offers competitive salaries and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) contributions, and educational reimbursement.
