About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Test Engineer designs, develops, and maintains test procedures, tester hardware, and software for electronic circuit board production. The role supports test engineering for standard and custom devices, from product design through initial production, and performs moderately complex assignments under established Jabil standards, including ISO and QS development standards. The position is based primarily in an office, with some time each day on the manufacturing floor. The work environment has low to moderate noise. The employee frequently walks and lifts or carries PCs and test equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and uses computer monitor screens extensively.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electronics or Electrical Engineering is preferred, or related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.
Frequently walk and lift or carry PCs and test equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Use close vision and computer monitor screens extensively.

Responsibilities

Review circuit board designs for testability requirements.
Support manufacturing with failure analysis, tester debugging, reducing intermittent failures, and reducing test-equipment downtime.
Prepare testing recommendations and document procedures for use from product design through initial production.
Generate reports and analyze test data; prepare documentation and recommendations.
Regularly review test-equipment designs, data, and RMA issues with customers.
Design and direct engineering and technical personnel in fabricating testing and test-control apparatus and equipment.
Direct and coordinate engineering activities for developing, procuring, installing, and calibrating instruments, equipment, and control devices used to test, record, and reduce test data.
Determine test conditions and the sequence and phases of test operations.
Direct and control the operational, functional, and performance phases of tests.
Perform moderately complex engineering test assignments for standard and custom devices.
Analyze and interpret test data and prepare technical reports for test engineering and management personnel.
Develop or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests on machinery and equipment.
Perform semi-routine technique development and maintenance in accordance with established Jabil standards, including ISO and QS development standards.
May train production testing staff in new procedures.
Follow applicable safety and health rules and regulations and company security procedures.
