About The Position

The Test Engineer I will work in DeltaHawk’s Test Services department and will design, plan, and project manage the test equipment needs of the organization. These needs can range from determining test method, designing test equipment and data acquisition systems, test execution oversight and data analysis. This individual will also be responsible to manage and improve Delta Hawk’s test systems and related processes. Attention to detail, solid documentation skills, excellent communication skills and a strong mechanical aptitude will be important aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • AS in relevant Engineering discipline and 2+ years of test industry experience -OR- BS in relevant Engineering discipline -OR- 4+ years of progressive responsibility and experience in aerospace or R&D engine testing
  • 2+ years of experience performing mechanical design of test platforms and fixtures for performance, endurance, and accelerated life testing in a highly regulated environment
  • Ability to implement processes to ensure reliability of test method and data
  • Comfortable working with common data acquisition systems such as DEWESoft or National Instruments
  • Proficient using and knowing when to use electrical test equipment such as frequency generators, power supplies, DMMs and similar
  • Comfortable working with motors and drive systems up to 50HP
  • Excellent working knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks
  • Must understand personal strengths and weaknesses and how to deal with them well
  • Can work effectively within a team to leverage the strengths of others to achieve goals
  • Must be driven to acquire whatever knowledge or experience is needed to succeed
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a large team as well as to business leadership
  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail and desire to identify flaws in own designs

Nice To Haves

  • Aviation enthusiast and/or GA pilot
  • Formula SAE or similar activities
  • Strong GD&T knowledge (ASME Y14.5)
  • FEA/CFD experience
  • Fabricating, machining, or welding experience
  • Familiar with applying relevant standards such as NEC, NFPA, SAE, ASTM, ASME, UL, CE or similar
  • Strong working knowledge of electromechanical systems including how to specify, select, and validate test equipment for a given application
  • Proficient w/ data acquisition systems

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe test environment
  • Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team to achieve successful outcomes
  • Design, implement, and maintain test equipment for extensibility, maintainability, and reliability
  • Provide primary input into the design of test data acquisition and control systems as well as related instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot suspected problems in test equipment
  • Provide support for and work with test software systems to find root cause of issues
  • Design, plan, and create drawings, diagrams, and related documentation
