About The Position

The Physical Sciences Department at RTRC is seeking a test engineer in the area of high temperature materials. The candidate will be an integral member of a dynamic team focused on accelerated development of next generation high temperature materials for both aerospace and defense applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial: Metallurgy, materials characterization methods, powder processing, slurry formulation, densification, atomic layer deposition, or thermal processing.
  • Proficiency with LabView programming and control is preferred.
  • Experience in testing and characterizing materials, and knowledge in material failures at high temperature would be beneficial.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and hands on experience working with laboratory equipment.
  • Candidate must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation and have demonstrated both verbal and written communication skills including: Strong presentation, planning, problem solving, organizational, project management, documentation, teaming, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High degree of enthusiasm for technology and an ability to learn quickly staying abreast of cutting-edge technology, industry leading techniques and other skill sets
  • Excellent communication skills are required for this role.
