About The Position

OrthoCarolina is seeking a Test and Surgery Scheduler for their Hickory office location in Charlotte. This position offers the possibility of remote work but requires the ability to travel onsite as needed. The role involves arranging surgeries and diagnostic tests with hospitals and facilities, coordinating patient care, and providing patients with necessary instructions and education. Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of one year medical office experience.
Familiar with insurance companies, CPT and ICD9 codes.
Knowledge of medical terminology/CPT and ICD9.
Knowledge of the interrelationship of clinical services departments.
Ability to communicate with patients, medical facilities' personnel, and testing centers' personnel.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Previous high volume surgery scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Arranges surgeries and diagnostic tests with area hospitals and diagnostic facilities based on physician/patient preferences and insurance plan requirements.
Gives general instructions and explains scheduled procedures to patients, providing written instructions including date, time, and facility directions.
Coordinates patient care with hospitals, blood donations, radiology, anesthesia, and the patient’s primary care physician.
Provides patient teaching on surgical procedures, pre- and postoperative care via verbal, written, and videotaped communication.
Loads all surgeries into centricity, filling in appropriate fields in the data set and entering surgeries into the physician's Outlook calendar.
Schedules patient education and medical clearance appointments as needed.
Obtains second opinions and medical clearance as needed.
Creates referrals, tasks, post-op appointments, and obtains pre-certification.
