About The Position

Smithers-Oasis is a global manufacturer and marketer of various foam products for floral, horticultural, medical, and industrial applications. The Oasis Grower Solutions team is seeking a Territory Sales Manager to manage their northeastern U.S. territory and eastern Canada. This role is responsible for promoting sales, maximizing revenue and profits, and managing all sales and presentations of company products and programs within the defined territory. The position requires a strong focus on customer relationships, new customer development, brand building, and program development, with approximately 50-70% of time devoted to on-road sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a horticulture or agriculture field is preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant sales experience managing a territory, preferably in the horticulture industry.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a technical understanding of products.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple products in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel approximately 50-70% of the time.
  • Currently resides in the northeast region of the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining customer relationships through timely phone calls/communication, personal visits to customer sites, distribution of product sales information, and attendance at trade shows.
  • Keeping conversant with industry trends and facilitating internal company relationships to assure optimum success of product sales and delivery.
  • On-road sales, including developing key accounts and personal visits to customer sites (50-70% of time).
  • New customer development through cold calls, prospecting, and trade show/referral follow-up.
  • Communication and administrative functions, including participating in sales meetings, providing customer feedback, submitting bi-weekly reports, and utilizing CRM software.
  • Brand building by introducing, defining, expanding, and maintaining the Oasis Grower Solutions brand, educating customers, conducting seminars, and providing technical expertise.
  • Program development, including providing direction in sales planning, evaluating new market opportunities, and collaborating on new product development.
  • Accountable for the implementation of sales plans and reporting on their status quarterly.
  • Responsible for annual grower goals and functioning effectively with related departments and Senior Management to meet organizational goals.
  • Reporting on industry trends and market intelligence.
