About The Position

The Territory Manager II is responsible for managing the demand creation and sales of Trus Joist engineered lumber products within the single-family residential and high-density or multi-family housing market segments. This role typically covers a larger, more complex territory, potentially spanning multiple metro markets or states, and requires the individual to independently develop and implement a territory strategy. The focus is on driving sales and profit by creating primary demand through engagement with builders, dealers, the design community, and building officials, selling solutions that generate profit, and providing product and solution knowledge training aligned with the Trus Joist training program. The territory for this role includes parts of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Candidates must reside within Idaho or Montana and be located near an airport.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • 5+ yrs overall experience
  • 3+ yrs industry experience (architectural rep, dealer sales rep with Engineered Wood Product experience, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), able to convert ideas and concerns clearly and persuasively
  • Understands and can persuasively explain residential construction, technical, and design concepts regarding value creation to the builder.
  • Skilled in business acumen, financial competency, and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated creativity in approach to problem solving and solutions
  • Strong consultative selling ability. Working knowledge of levers to drive results to meet sales strategy/profitability targets
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong relationships internally and externally
  • Candidates MUST live within Idaho or Montana and be close to an airport.

Responsibilities

  • Independently Develops and implements a territory strategy that maximizes the opportunity for success, typically covering multiple metro markets or states and generally independently of other TM support
  • Drives sales and profit by being consistently able to create primary demand for products by working with builders, dealers, the design community, and building officials. Focuses on selling solutions to generate profit
  • Using advanced level skills, develops and delivers customer-specific solutions that quantifiably demonstrate value and improved returns for the builder.
  • Develops and nurtures relationships with key customers at the appropriate customer levels to grow the business and ensure that customers play an active role in determining how they are to be serviced. Develops and maintains strong relationships with architects, specifiers, etc. including executive level relationships
  • Provides product and solution knowledge training/education to builders, design community, dealers, distributors, and building officials aligned with the Trus Joist training program
