Requirements

An undergraduate degree in biology, ecology or a related environmental sciences field
1-2 years of professional work experience in environmental consulting and/or related work experience with a focus on the terrestrial environment
Registered as a Biologist in Training (AB or BC) or able to obtain registration within 2 years of hire
Able to obtain Reliability security status (five year address history, criminal record check) for federal government contracts
Valid Drivers’ License
Strong oral and written communication skills, and keen attention to detail.
Aptitude to learn.
Commitment to project quality and project deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Experience in executing field programs as part of environmental studies; experience in executing terrestrial wildlife surveys will be considered an asset.
Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Complete field surveys and environmental monitoring throughout western and northern Canada to collect data including but not limited to vegetation composition, rare plant and invasive species surveys, wildlife surveys (e.g., amphibians, birds, mammals), wetland assessments
Prepare technical reports and memos related to Environmental Impact Assessments on various sites, as required
Contribute to environmental investigations, research, field work, and report writing
Collaborate with and assist project managers and team members including biologists, engineers, planners, and environmental scientists
Ability to work weekends
Ability to travel overnight, for long periods of time
Commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
