About The Position

BTC's Rapid City Terminal Manager oversees everything: CDL drivers, heavy equipment operators, various bulk commodities, and direct client relationships. This role involves managing gypsum, iron ore, wood chips, aggregates, frac sand, hydrates, and molasses. The position requires managing trucks, loaders, and a mining operation that necessitates MSHA certification. Responsibilities include client visits, bid reviews, budget planning, and leading a team to ensure smooth operations. No two days are the same in this dynamic role.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of transportation or logistics management experience
  • 2+ years proven supervisory responsibility
  • Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other transportation safety regulations.
  • MSHA Certification (we will train if you’re not certified)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

  • CDL-A preferred
  • Heavy equipment knowledge preferred
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), dispatch software, and warehouse management systems (WMS) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, including Supervisors, Dispatchers, Drivers, Dock Associates, and Administrative staff.
  • Oversee daily terminal operations (dispatch, driver management, and maintenance where applicable) to ensure efficiency, compliance, and safety.
  • Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and operating standards.
  • Manage budgets, cost control, and procurement to achieve financial and operational targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, shippers, carriers, and vendors.
  • Monitor DVIRs and coordinate timely, compliant equipment repairs.
  • Partner with Safety to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe workplace.
  • Oversee facility upkeep and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Identify training needs and support employee development.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance service quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
