About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Terminal Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of the transloading facility, manage cost, drive operational excellence, and provide leadership to the site. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of managing a P&L in the Transloading industry, optimizing operational processes, maximizing efficiency, and delivering exceptional results in the logistics industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in operations management within the logistics or transportation industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with a track record of effectively managing teams and driving performance improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards applicable to transloading operations.
  • Proficiency in experience with logistics management software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily direction and leadership to all aspects of on-site rail activities, transloading operations, inventory control and warehousing/distribution.
  • Develop and implement operational plans and initiatives to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Build and develop a high-performing operations team capable of delivering results aligned to the company's goals.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and training to foster a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Document succession planning, ensure compliance to training & development plans, and identify backfills.
  • Follow all Human Resources requirements and processes for proper performance management and reporting.
  • Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards to ensure the accuracy and integrity of transloading operations.
  • Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Development of preventive maintenance schedule on all fixed assets at each location, this includes but is not limited to: equipment, buildings.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry standards governing transloading operations.
  • Implement safety protocols and training programs to promote a culture of safety and mitigate risks in the workplace.
  • Working closely with the team to ensure a safe work environment at all times.
  • Monitor operational budgets and expenses to meet targets and achieve best-in-class terminal performance.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings, and implement strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining service quality.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing and inventory in all applicable systems. These include RailCommodore, Intacct, Bill.com, and Tally, along with any other customer-required systems.
  • Monitor KPI dashboards for each facility to assess historical and projected volumes.
  • Address and communicate immediately all operational or financial issues that deviate from safety, customer specific, or budgetary guidelines.
  • Manage all HR-related issues escalated by employees.
  • Ensure all data entered timely and accurately into appropriate systems. These systems include, but not limited to, Intacct, Bill.com, Tally, and RailCommodore.
  • Manage, review, and explain expenses outside the budget.
  • Review operational performance and efficiency metrics.
  • Check on the progress of key terminal projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance to vendor performance and management of key projects.
  • Follow all HR-related policies and procedures and perform audits on compliance at the terminal level.
  • Perform site inspections to ensure proper safety, maintenance, and operational requirements are being followed.
  • Update on the maintenance and capital investment budgets' progress.
  • Review project updates and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Conduct meetings with Key Terminal personnel to review operational and financial performance.
  • Oversee the integration of key terminal projects, process improvements and support new business opportunities.
  • Support the forecasting processes to align operational goals with financial targets.
  • Lead reviews of Employee and Terminal performance to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Manage within the maintenance and capital investment budgets.
  • Assess and adjust strategic plans and operational goals to meet financial targets and support new business opportunities.
