About The Position

This is a term position budgeted through June 30, 2027, with continued employment subject to funding continuation and not guaranteed. Montgomery County, located adjacent to Washington, D.C., is the most populous and diverse county in Maryland. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is responsible for delivering public health and human services to the county's most vulnerable residents, operating over 120 programs at more than 20 locations with over 2,000 employees. The Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services (CABHS) in Silver Spring is seeking a compassionate, empathetic, and professional term therapist to make a meaningful impact on underserved individuals and families. CABHS provides individual and family therapy, as well as clinical case management, for uninsured children, adolescents, and families, or those with Medical Assistance. As a therapist, you will offer individual, group, family, and school-based services to clients facing barriers to mental health and substance use services, conducting sessions in-person and via telehealth in clinic and school settings. You will work with a diverse team, collaborate with internal and external partners, and be dedicated to fostering positive change. A pre-employment background check, medical exam, and drug screening are required.

Requirements

Therapist I Level: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in clinical or counselling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related Behavioral science field.
Therapist I Level: None for experience.
Therapist I Level: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), or Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT) issued by the State of Maryland must be held prior to appointment and maintained.
Therapist I Level: Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license issued by the candidate’s state of residence.
Therapist II Level: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.
Therapist II Level: Two (2) years of professional experience rendering therapeutic counseling, social work, nursing or psychology services, as pertinent to one’s professional licensing.
Therapist II Level: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC); Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT); Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC); Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C); Licensed Registered Nurse in the United States, certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland; or Licensed Psychologist must be held prior to appointment and maintained.
Therapist II Level: Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license issued by the candidate’s state of residence.

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated experience providing individual, family and group therapy.
Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience providing services for individuals experiencing trauma, substance use, self-injury, crisis/safety assessment.
Experience working with, collaborating, or coordinating services with partner agencies (i.e., DJS, CWS, MCPS).
Experience providing therapy off site (school/community/telehealth).
Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practices: Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, etc.
Multilingual Preferred in Spanish.

Responsibilities
