About The Position

This role is for a Teradata Application DBA in Lansing, Michigan, with a hybrid schedule requiring onsite presence on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and remote work on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. The position involves extensive experience with Teradata, ETL processes, Teradata Utilities, performance tuning, data loading, and SQL skills. The DBA will also work with end-users to understand and resolve system and business issues, provide technical guidance to development teams, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 8+ years’ experience with Teradata V17+
  • 5+ years’ experience in ETL using awk and Shell Scripting in a Unix/Linux environment
  • 5+ years’ experience with Teradata Utilities (TPT, Mload, Fastload, BTEQ, etc.)
  • 3-5+ years’ experience with performance tuning within a Teradata environment (SQL Joins, Indexes, Viewpoint, Explains)
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in loading data from multiple source systems
  • 3-5+ years’ experience SQL Skills that include working with joins, indexes, partitions at table level and performance tuning skillsets
  • 1+ years’ experience with BI reporting tool along with basic modelling operations and maintenance issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Teradata Master
  • Experience maintaining Dashboards and other basic reports related to data warehouse on a daily basis.
  • Experience with Teradata Studio/Teradata SQL Assistant
  • Experience with cloud based BI tools/Data Warehouse implementations
  • Previous experience with State Government

Responsibilities

  • Work with end users/customers to understand system and business issues and perform technical analysis to develop solutions.
  • Provide targeted training and technical guidance to development teams for troubleshooting and batch support.
  • Work independently and not rely on team members.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with programmers, analysts, immediate supervisor, management, system users, operations, other State agencies and the private sector.
  • Recognize, gather, correlate, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and devise solutions and alternatives and make appropriate recommendations.
