About The Position

Framingham State University (FSU) is seeking a full-time Tenure-Track Faculty member for its Biology Department, starting September 1, 2027. FSU is a public university committed to providing accessible, affordable, and academically challenging educational opportunities. The Biology Department fosters a vibrant and inclusive undergraduate education through hands-on learning, dedicated advising, mentorship, and a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching biology courses, including general biology for majors and non-majors, and elective courses in their area of expertise. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can complement the existing curriculum, support pre-medical and pre-veterinary programs, and have expertise in wildlife biology. A key aspect of the role involves engaging students in meaningful undergraduate research and mentoring them, with a focus on supporting first-generation students and those from racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in STEM. The position also includes service to the department and institution through shared governance, curriculum development, and program assessment.

Requirements

Doctoral degree in Biology or a related life sciences field.
ABD candidates will be considered, provided the degree will be completed by August 31, 2027.
A record of, or potential for, excellent undergraduate teaching and research that involves undergraduates.
A record of collaboration in a team environment, with skills applicable to faculty/student collaboration.
Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with inclusive pedagogical strategies supporting students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Experience or potential for mentoring undergraduate students using practices that support first-generation students and those from groups historically underrepresented in STEM.
Experience with or a demonstrated willingness to participate in teaching, mentoring, research, or service activities that promote the growth of an equitable and inclusive academic environment.

Responsibilities
