About The Position
Daemen University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology to join the Natural Sciences and Mathematics department starting Fall 2027. The role involves teaching 21 credits of lectures and laboratories, primarily in General Biology, Microbiology, and Immunology, to allied-health students. The position also requires mentoring undergraduate research students, conducting independent research leading to publications, and the ability to teach in both face-to-face and online formats. Requirements
- PhD in Biology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
- Experience with active learning in a face-to-face modality, preferably at smaller institutions.
- Analytical and organizational skills necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities to assure compliance with established goals and objectives.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all university constituents.
- Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and mentoring.
- Ability to develop and maintain an active research program involving undergraduate students.
Responsibilities
- Teaching 21 credits of lectures and laboratories primarily in General Biology, Microbiology, and Immunology.
- Teaching additional courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
- Mentoring undergraduate research students.
- Conducting independent research leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Teaching in both face-to-face and online modalities.
