Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time, tenure track faculty position with the Large Animal Surgery in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). This position entails a 50% commitment to the large animal surgery service of the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) while providing supervision and instruction to undergraduate students – primarily those in the fourth or final year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program – as well as interns and residents. The successful candidate will also contribute to the department’s teaching responsibilities, including lectures, laboratories, and demonstrations in Years 1 to 3 of the DVM curriculum, and graduate courses. The remaining 50% of the appointment will be devoted to research and scholarly activities, administrative responsibilities, and other academic pursuits. The successful candidate will be expected to perform a wide range of surgical procedures on horses and food animals, including emergency and elective surgeries (both orthopedic and soft tissue), and provide quality pre- and post-operative care, ensuring the highest standards of animal care and client communication. They will also be expected to develop and maintain an active research program. Success will be reflected in the acquisition of research funding, the recruitment and mentoring of graduate students, and the dissemination of research findings through peer-reviewed outlets.
