About The Position

The City of Farmington is seeking a Tennis Supervisor for its Sports Complex. This is a temporary, part-time, seasonal position responsible for the operations of the tennis pro shop, including reservation and fee collection, cash handling, inventory management, and staff scheduling. The role also involves planning and facilitating tennis programming for youth and adults, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining the pro shop and restrooms. Additional duties may include court maintenance and reporting accidents.

Requirements

  • Experience in supervision and working with the public.
  • Strong working background and knowledge of the game and rules of tennis.
  • Minimum of two years of progressive tennis instruction.
  • Advanced public relations skills necessary.
  • Ability to give suitable assignments and instruction to employees.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with associates, general public, and organizations.
  • Ability to balance a cash register and make bank deposits.
  • Ability to schedule staff effectively.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed.
  • Must have a telephone at residence.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Securing reservations and collecting fees at the tennis pro shop.
  • Following and enforcing reservation policy and fee collection set by the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department.
  • Balancing daily cash register, completing daily reports, and delivering deposits to the Recreation Center.
  • Maintaining inventory and contacting the Recreation Center to order supplies.
  • Scheduling staff to cover all hours the pro shop is open to the public.
  • Planning and facilitating tennis programming for both youth and adults.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff and the general public using excellent customer service skills.
  • Cleaning the tennis pro shop and restrooms.
  • Selling tennis supplies and equipment.
  • Reporting all accidents to the Recreation Sports Supervisor and/or Recreation Manager, and completing proper accident/incident forms.
  • Squeegeeing tennis courts after heavy rain to make courts playable and performing other court maintenance as needed.
