About The Position

Northwood Club, established in 1946 and known for hosting the 1952 U.S. Open, is seeking a part-time Tennis Shop Attendant. The club, recognized for its excellence in golf and member service, is looking for an individual to assist Tennis Professionals and the Pro Shop Manager in delivering a high-quality tennis experience. This role involves promoting tennis programs, assisting with sales, marketing, and maintenance of the tennis shop. The position requires working 25-30 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Ability to work 25-30 hours a week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sales, marketing, or maintenance of a pro shop.
  • Knowledge of tennis programs, including Junior Development, camps, and drills.
  • Ability to string racquets.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the facility is ready for operation and remains in good order throughout the day.
  • Make coffee and tea if needed.
  • Be familiar with all tennis activity information, including Junior Development, camps, and drills, as well as front desk operations and merchandise information.
  • Have knowledge of club activities, policies, and hours.
  • Understand club operations to transfer calls and assist members with questions.
  • Assist with inventory, including alcohol, strings, and grips.
  • Promote sales.
  • Stock merchandise as needed.
  • Maintain a lost and found and keep lost valuable items safe.
  • Greet all people entering the tennis shop.
  • Answer all phone calls in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Schedule court reservations completely and legibly.
  • Assist members with merchandise needs in a courteous manner.
  • Charge for court fees, guest fees, lesson fees, and merchandise occurring during the shift appropriately.
  • Record ticket numbers for Tennis Professionals.
  • String racquets in a timely manner (if applicable).
  • Maintain and track usage of demo racquets.
  • Restock the fridge throughout the shift as needed and completely restock it nightly.
  • Stock tennis balls as needed.
  • Keep the desk and counter clean and organized.
  • Responsible for shop cleanliness during and at the end of the shift.
  • Take count of all members, groups, players, and spectators daily.
  • Perform closing procedures as indicated by checklists, including printing and filling out closing sheets, counting money, taking out cash and checks collected, and securing reports and cash/checks in a lock box.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Tennis and Pro Shop Manager.
