About The Position

Under general supervision, the Tennis Professional provides tennis instruction to individuals and groups, assists in planning and implementing instructional programs, and ensures a positive experience for all participants. This position requires strong communication skills, flexibility in scheduling, and the ability to work effectively with the public.

Requirements

Knowledge of tennis techniques, rules, and instructional methods.
Skill in teaching and adapting lessons for different ages and skill levels.
Skill in communicating clearly and professionally with participants and staff.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours as required.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism.
Knowledge of tennis program planning and player development strategies.
Skill in conducting engaging and effective lessons for individuals and groups.
Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing schedules.
Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in a public-facing role.
Ability to lift and transport tennis equipment as needed.
Experience in playing competitive tennis and/or coaching/teaching is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess strong communication skills.
Knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures.
Skill in communicating professionally and tactfully with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.
Skill with organization and attention to detail.
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment utilizing knowledge of the organization's policies.
Ability to work independently under general instructions.
Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited to filing, pulling, seeing, sorting, squatting, standing, stooping, twisting body, typing, walking, and writing.
Ability to prioritize deadlines and tasks.
Ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly.
Ability to plan, organize, monitor, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish unit objectives.
Ability to work within a set schedule.

Nice To Haves

Stringing experience preferred.
At least two (2) years of competitive tennis experience (competing or teaching) is preferred.
Experience assisting with tennis program development or event coordination.

Responsibilities

Provide tennis instruction through private lessons and group clinics for players of varying skill levels.
Assist the Head Tennis Professional in planning, organizing, and directing instructional programs.
Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding schedules and program details.
Lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
Assist with special events, tournaments, and promotional activities.
