About The Position

Donalda Club is seeking a reliable and experienced Tennis Court Maintenance Assistant to join their Racquets Department. This permanent, part-time role involves assisting in the maintenance of 12 clay tennis courts and surrounding grounds, including practice facilities, pool areas, and formal lawns. The ideal candidate will have experience in clay court maintenance and groundskeeping, ensuring a clean, welcoming, and professional environment that meets the club's high standards. The position requires flexibility to work weekend and holiday shifts, as well as evening closing shifts.

Requirements

  • Completion of High School Education (Grade 10) or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in Tennis Court and grounds maintenance is recommended.
  • Good communication skills of written and spoken English language.
  • Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining composure and performance standard during busy peak periods.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform heavy lifting and mild strenuous activity.
  • Well groomed, mannerly, co-operative and outwardly friendly (team oriented).
  • Able to work a flexible shifts - days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Punctual and reliable.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the game of Tennis and the principles surrounding etiquette is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tennis courts daily for member use, including sweeping, lining, watering, rolling, leveling, topdressing, and scarifying.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as light cleaning and waste removal, court washroom cleaning, and maintaining chairs, tables, and other court-side items.
  • Seasonally bring out scorecards and clocks as play transitions between north and south courts.
  • Conduct safety checks for issues such as protruding nails or uneven lines and address promptly.
  • Assist with the setup and takedown of the tennis bubble as needed.
  • Monitor and adjust the irrigation system as required.
  • Communicate with the racquets desk regarding court conditions (e.g., too soft for play).
  • Ensure garbage bins are changed, towels are restocked, and viewing areas are tidy and organized.
  • Maintain fitness and squash areas, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
  • Perform seasonal preparation tasks including painting net posts, hanging windscreens, inspecting water fountains and ice machines, checking outdoor inventory, testing sprinkler systems, and preparing courts for closure (applying top dressing, removing equipment).
  • Maintain surrounding grounds, including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, spraying, and fertilizing areas such as the parking lot, lawns, formal garden, and pool area.
  • Keep parking lot and grounds tidy by removing leaves, debris, and trash.
  • Clean shoe cleaning brushes and revolving door areas.
  • Maintain decorative fountains, range bunkers, and parking lot lights.
  • Perform any additional duties as specified by the Tennis Court Supervisor.
