About The Position

The Tennis Camp Counselor is responsible for leading and supervising preschool, elementary, and middle school children participating in the tennis camp program. This role requires a commitment to the entire summer camp season, from June to August. Key duties include providing competent tennis instruction for all skill levels, supervising children during various activities such as classroom time, outdoor play, and transportation, and ensuring compliance with state licensing standards for child care. The counselor must communicate effectively to build relationships and promote teamwork, assist with junior development, club events, tournaments, and USTA matches. Additionally, the position involves maintaining facility cleanliness, promoting the safety and security of all participants, and communicating program policies to students and parents.

Requirements

  • Must be able to commit to work the summer camp season (June - August)
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must be able to stand, move, walk, and bend for the duration of a shift
  • Must be able to physically respond in a quick manner in the event of an emergency
  • Must be able to fully participate in all indoor and outdoor activities
  • Must be able to work professionally and calmly in an environment which may have heightened noise and stress
  • Must be able to work in warm, humid, rainy or windy outdoor conditions
  • Must have ability and willingness to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Prior working experience and knowledge of state licensing standards highly desired
  • Prior experience with youth programming and/or summer camp programs highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent tennis instruction for all groups and levels of players
  • Supervise and interact with children to promote educationally and developmentally-stimulating programs and activities
  • Supervise and interact with children during classroom time, outdoor play, and transportation time
  • Follow state licensing standards for child care
  • Communicate with children using a style that builds relationships and promotes teamwork
  • Assist with junior development of competitive players and 10 and under tennis
  • Assist the Director with all club events, tournaments and USTA matches
  • Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness throughout the facility while providing outstanding customer service
  • Promote the safety and security of all participants at all times
  • Maintain a notable visual presence during work shifts
  • Communicate program policies and expectations members and/or guests to ensure a high level of safety and service at all times
  • Promote the safety and security of all children at all times
  • Communicate program policies and expectations to students and/or parents to ensure a high level of safety and service at all times
  • Supervise children by maintaining appropriate student-to-counselor ratios
  • Read, sign, and abide by the policies included in the Team Member Handbook
  • Park in team member-designated areas
  • Assist whenever necessary in any area of the club to keep the club neat and clean
  • Assist with Service Days
  • Assist with acac programs, special events, or activities outside your department
  • Promptly return messages
  • Exhibit a positive attitude at all times
  • Deliver five-star service to members and guests with friendliness, direct eye contact, and a pleasant demeanor at all times
