About The Position

As a Camp Counselor at our Summer Camp Program, you will play a pivotal role in creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for campers. Your enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication will contribute to memorable experiences that foster personal growth, skill development, and lasting friendships. Camp runs for 5 weeks throughout the summer Monday – Thursday 9 am – 3 pm. Activities include: swim, tennis, golf, arts and crafts. Tennis and golf are run by the golf and tennis departments.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in education, recreation, or a related field is a plus.
Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or similar setting.
Enthusiasm for outdoor activities, sports, arts and crafts, and interactive games.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect and engage with campers, parents, and fellow staff.
First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to camp start).
Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude in various situations.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and take on leadership responsibilities when required.
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively with parents, other Camp Counsellors and campers
Ability to motivate others towards learning new skills
Ability to demonstrate responsible, ethical and professional conduct
Ability to provide support and instruction to others
A background check and references will be required.

Responsibilities

Supervise and lead campers in a variety of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and nature exploration.
Plan and execute age-appropriate activities that align with the camp's theme and goals.
Foster a sense of belonging and teamwork among campers by promoting inclusivity and cooperation.
Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, following established protocols and guidelines.
Provide positive guidance and behavior management, promoting respect and empathy.
Assist in preparing and organizing materials needed for daily activities.
Encourage campers to try new activities and challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
Collaborate with fellow camp staff to coordinate schedules, share ideas, and address any concerns.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, providing updates on camper progress and addressing any questions or concerns.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and evaluations to continuously improve camp operations.
