Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will play a vital role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive housing environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Tenant Support Worker provides emotional support, crisis intervention, and guidance to help tenants build essential life and tenancy skills. This includes facilitating access to community resources, promoting wellness and personal development, mediating conflicts, and encouraging goal-setting. The role also involves coordinating with external agencies, documenting tenant interactions, and participating in case management and planning. Through proactive relationship-building, collaboration, and advocacy, the TSW helps tenants maintain successful tenancies and improve their overall quality of life.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Social Services, Mental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting individuals or families facing multiple barriers to housing.
- Strong knowledge of social issues such as homelessness, mental health, and addictions.
- Understanding of housing systems and harm reduction approaches.
- Crisis intervention skills.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Community engagement skills.
- Cultural sensitivity.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Naloxone certification.
- Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification.
- Unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Solid grasp of the Residential Tenancy Act.
- Strong communication skills.
- Time management skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to build trusting, professional relationships with a diverse tenant population.
- Undergo a Police Information Check (PIC).
- Undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
