About The Position

Mile High United Way is seeking a Temporary Tax Preparer for the Tax Help Colorado program. This role is crucial in assisting low- and middle-income families in Colorado to file accurate tax returns and maximize their refunds. The tax preparer will play an integral role in implementing the program, supporting free tax preparation sites across the state, and providing excellent customer service to clients. Requirements

Excellent communication and client service skills, including attentive listening, calmness under pressure, and de-escalation
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated passion for helping low-income individuals and families meet their needs and build assets
Strong organizational skills, including time management and attention to detail
Experience with concepts of trauma-informed practice, de-escalation, and community engagement
Proficiency with Windows computers and web-based software applications
Volunteer Standards of Conduct certification
Intake/Interview and Quality Review certification
Advanced Tax certification
Site Coordinator certification

Responsibilities

Complete all required training and IRS certifications
Ensure accurate tax preparation and quality review of tax returns
Provide administrative support at tax preparation sites in the community
Follow the Internal Revenue Service's VITA quality site requirements
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate service delivery
Provide exceptional customer service
Build relationships and work effectively with donors, volunteers, clients, and community partners
