About The Position

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation proudly hosts many community events each year, such as the Hummingbird Festival, The Senior Games, and Festival in the Park. The department serves a population exceeding one million residents and covers the City of Charlotte, six towns, and the unincorporated areas of the county, spanning 523 square miles. It manages over 21,000 acres and 230+ parks, nature preserves, greenways, and facilities. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions
  • Experience assisting with special events strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
  • Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
  • Prepare facility before and after scheduled reservations for weddings and non-wedding events
  • Visit Park and Recreation venues/sites, monitoring events and assisting with special events
  • Enforce rules and regulations
  • Collect fees and taking registrations for facility rentals
  • Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
  • Handle inquiries and complaints from public
  • Assist with Department-sponsored events
  • Provide light housekeeping and sanitation before, during and after events
  • Prepare the facilities for reservations/bookings
  • Assist with other event duties as assigned
