About The Position

This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 9-months. Temporary Part Time Research Services Entry Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in an experimental lab, or wet lab, and handle a variety of chemicals and/or potential “wet” hazards. Entry Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in laboratories where chemicals, drugs, or other materials or biological matters are tested and analyzed. The position will require occasional travel for off-site experiments and collaborating research organizations, as well as presenting data at conferences and meetings. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, detail oriented and have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. This position requires the ability to work in person with flexible hours. The Department of Emergency Medicine has an opening for an Entry Laboratory Research Services Professional (RSP). This individual will be involved in conducting various research studies in a fast paced, translational research laboratory setting in conjunction with multiple grants and contracts related to advanced drug and device development aimed at treating hemorrhagic shock and drug/chemical toxicity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis .
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions
  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects
  • Support analytical testing process using standard lab s upport knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting and communicating results
  • Perform pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical test process and evaluate results produced
  • Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas
  • Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well established guidelines and instructions
  • Review, complete and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information
