About The Position

This position is a temporary contract through approximately February 26th, 2027. The work year is 190 days. This role is part of the TTEA bargaining unit and is FLSA Exempt. The salary range is $53,810 - $108,384, based on a 190-day contract and 1.0 FTE. Tigard Tualatin School District pays the 6% employee PERS contribution upon eligibility. The Temporary Elementary Music Teacher reports to the Building Principal and is a Licensed position with a 1.0 FTE. Classroom teachers provide instruction within the school district's curriculum, working directly with students, staff, and administrators to achieve educational goals. This role requires the ability to perform duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations made for individuals with disabilities. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Responsibilities include teaching classes following the District-approved curriculum, communicating with parents, adhering to District standards, collaborating with colleagues, demonstrating effective classroom management, and complying with Oregon Teacher's Standards of Competent and Ethical Performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Valid Oregon Teaching Certificate
  • Music Endorsement
  • Make some independent judgments within prescribed policies and procedures
  • Employ good judgment in a variety of situations, including emergencies
  • Work with a variety of students and demonstrate a willingness to gain the information and training necessary to work effectively
  • Possess the characteristics and understanding to be an effective member of an educational support team
  • Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and complete work within established time lines.
  • Communicate with appropriate student age group requiring the exercise of both empathetic and disciplinarian approaches
  • Maintain a confidential, non-preferential manner and non-judgmental attitude towards the students, staff, and program
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, staff, and general public

Responsibilities

  • Teaches classes following District approved curriculum
  • Conducts conferences and communicates with parents as necessary
  • Follows District standards including reporting concerns, abuse and infractions of student handbook policies
  • Works effectively and collaborates with the building administrator and work team or grade level
  • Demonstrates effective classroom management techniques
  • Understands and complies with Oregon Teacher’s Stands of Competent and Ethical Performance
