The Temporary Line Cook position at The Statler Hotel is responsible for daily prep tasks, food preparation, ensuring food safety, and maintaining cleanliness. This role also involves providing functional guidance and training for student cooks, collaborating with front-of-house staff for a quality customer experience, and maintaining professionalism. All community members are expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-2 years of experience cooking in a restaurant, hotel, or resort
  • Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills
  • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and follow cooking directions
  • Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be organized and self-motivated
  • Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, and lift, and carry heavy materials

Nice To Haves

  • A degree from an accredited College or University with a focus on Culinary Arts

Responsibilities

  • Executing daily prep tasks, including cutting ingredients, setting up the production line, and preparing food with accuracy and speed
  • Ensure food safety by monitoring and recording temperatures
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area
  • Provide functional guidance and training for student cooks
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure a quality customer experience
  • Maintain professionalism
  • Support teammates
  • Adhere to operating standards during shift closures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
