About The Position

This position is located at the Bruce McCandless Community Living Center, a State-owned and operated skilled-nursing facility dedicated to serving veterans. The facility strives to provide excellent customer service and respect resident choices. The philosophy is to provide residents a home where life and love abound. The Temporary Aide - Custodian I performs daily cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing of assigned work areas using approved disinfectants, cleaners, chemicals, and equipment. This includes floor work such as scrubbing, spot cleaning, and shampooing. The role also involves handling, sorting, loading, unloading, folding, assigning, hanging, ironing, repairing, mending, labeling, and distributing resident laundry and facility linen. Additionally, the position requires assisting with minor maintenance tasks like changing lamps and filters, snow removal, and light groundskeeping.

Requirements

6 months experience cleaning in a business, medical or industrial setting.
State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout employment.
Willingness to test for Tuberculosis (TB).
Willingness to work shift work, including days, evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Willingness to use, handle, or be exposed to hazardous materials: oven cleaner, sanitizer, and bleach.
Disclosure of any prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination from former State employment.
Application must specifically address qualifications, experience, work products, and accomplishments as they relate to the position and minimum requirements.
Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week); part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis.

Nice To Haves

Previous custodial experience in a long-term care or hospital facility.
Previous experience in commercial laundry processing.

Responsibilities

Perform daily cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing of assigned work area as per assigned work schedule and procedures.
Utilize approved disinfectants, cleaners, associated chemicals and equipment.
Perform floor work, including scrubbing, spot cleaning, and shampooing.
Handle, sort, load, unload, fold, assign, hang, iron, repair, mend, label and distribute the Resident’s laundry and Facility linen in a timely manner.
Utilize approved disinfectants, cleaners, detergents, bleaching agents, soft/sour agents, spotters and associated chemicals.
Know and follow procedures in Universal Precautions as well as the programming of all Laundry Equipment.
Keep work-related records.
Assist with minor maintenance assignments, i.e., changing lamps, changing filters, snow removal, light groundskeeping duties, etc.
