About The Position

Olympic College is seeking applicants for a Temporary Custodian 3 position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment by cleaning, sanitizing, and performing Custodial cleaning services and light maintenance in classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas. Ensures the campus is safe and sanitary for the students and staff of Olympic College.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess the ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including the ability to lift, push, pull, and carry loads weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to walk, sit, and stand for periods of up to eight (8) hours per shift as required to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • One year of experience as a Custodian or in an equivalent position.
  • Valid Driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms to ensure a clean and sanitary learning and work environment for students and staff
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; wipe down surfaces, desks, whiteboards, and fixtures.
  • Wash windows, doors, and handles to maintain hygiene.
  • Remove trash and recycling and return furniture to standard layout.
  • Use ladders and appropriate tools to clean elevated surfaces, including lighting and HVAC diffusers.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, providing a clean and sanitary area for student and staff use
  • Clean mirrors, sinks, counters, toilets, and urinals using appropriate PPE and cleaning agents.
  • Sweep and mop floors; disinfect all high-touch surfaces.
  • Restock paper goods, soap, and hygiene products.
  • Clean and Sanitize lobbies, halls, common areas, and stairwells.
  • Ensuring a clean and welcoming learning and working environment for students, staff, and the public
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; wipe walls, windows, ledges, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Refill PPE and sanitization stations.
  • Transport trash and recycling to dumpsters.
  • Clean elevated building features with proper equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs and painting to assist in maintaining the campus for students, staff, and the visiting public
  • Install, adjust, or replace dispensing equipment (soap, paper towels, etc.).
  • Perform light painting and minor wall repairs in small spaces.
  • Change batteries in dispensers and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Independently identify and resolve basic building-related issues, including fixture adjustments and light bulb replacement.
  • Uses judgement to determine when to escalate issues to maintenance.
  • Prepare surfaces for touch-up paint and caulking as needed.
  • Strip and refinish hard surface floors using commercial-grade equipment.
  • Extract carpets and upholstery and apply protective treatments.
  • Maintain floor machines and tools to ensure safe operation and readiness.
  • Perform intensive floor care during breaks or as scheduled.
  • Assist with Event Setups and furniture/ office/ classroom moves to maintain an organized learning and work environment for students and staff
  • Move and arrange furniture and equipment for classes, events, and special requests.
  • Set up and break down tables, chairs, and related items for campus events.
  • Remain on call during events to respond to spills or clean-up needs.
  • Coordinate with staff on space layout and cleanup needs following events.
  • Use systems, inventory, and supplies to support the Custodial department in providing cleaning services for the campus students and staff
  • Regularly uses a work order system to initiate and track project-based assignments, custodial needs, and equipment repairs.
  • Checks and responds to email communications and requests needed supplies.
  • Use ctcLink to record work hours and time entries accurately.
  • Access and reference SDS sheets for proper chemical use.
  • Maintain records of supply levels and equipment locations; stock materials and supply usage.
  • Perform seasonal duties such as snow and ice removal using hand tools or power equipment.
  • Apply deicer and sweep or pressure wash sidewalks and stairs.
  • Conduct deep cleaning of assigned spaces during academic breaks.
  • Clean interior and exterior glass at building entrances.
