About The Position
The Temporary Valets will fill-in for absents valet and perform valet assigned jobs as needed.
Requirements
- General horsemanship
- Knowledge of racing
- Ability to work a racing schedule
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment indoors and outdoors
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the proper weights are assigned to each horse in each race.
- Bring the saddle to the paddock
- Assist the trainer in the saddling of the horse
- After the race assist the jockey in unsaddling the horse
- Return the saddle to the jock's room after the saddle and the jockey are weighed by the clerk of scales
- Generally facilitate and expedite the functioning of the jockey's room
- Assist the jockey in the upkeep/maintenance of their equipment and other matters
