About The Position

The Gerald May Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering at The University of New Mexico is seeking to hire a temporary part-time instructor to teach one course in construction engineering and management. The course is CE 474/574 – Principles of Written Construction Documents. The instructor will be responsible for preparing class materials, teaching online via the UNM Canvas platform, assessing student performance through various methods, holding office hours (in person or online), responding to student inquiries, and submitting grades and assessment materials promptly at the end of the course.

Requirements

  • PhD in Civil Engineering, or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to teach civil engineering or construction management coursework in higher education
  • Prior related academic or industry experience
  • A demonstrated commitment to working with undergraduate and graduate students at the University of New Mexico.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing class material
  • Teaching online using the UNM Canvas platform
  • Assessing student performance through homework, quizzes, exams, or other appropriate means
  • Holding office hours (in person or online) to meet with students individually or in groups outside of class
  • Being responsive to student inquiries
  • Submitting timely grades and assessment materials at the end of the course
