About The Position

The Department of Psychology is seeking qualified temporary, part-time faculty. Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis, with positions filled based on budget availability, course enrollment, and departmental needs. Faculty are responsible for all aspects of the courses they teach, including meeting with classes during assigned times, delivering course content, developing and grading assignments, submitting final grades, and assessing student learning outcomes as outlined by the department. Teaching assignments are based on departmental needs and are subject to change. Appointments are contingent upon departmental need each semester, as determined by student enrollment, the current course offering schedule, and instructional demand driven by graduation requirements.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Psychology or subfield for which you are applying; OR Master’s degree or higher in a field other than Psychology that is related to the position for which you are applying; OR Successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying (i.e. BA or BS degree for example).
  • Official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to their initial employment with UNM.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years professional experience in the specialization or subfield
  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institution
  • Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
  • Successful experience teaching courses using a variety of teaching modalities (such as Face-to-Face, Remote, and Fully Online)
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and facilitating undergraduate psychology courses.
  • Preparing, administering, and grading assignments, quizzes, midterm examinations, and final examinations.
  • Developing, updating, and maintaining course materials and instructional content.
  • Coordinating course activities, including class schedules and examinations, as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and submitting grades in accordance with University policies and deadlines.
  • Holding scheduled office hours and responding to student inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assessing student learning outcomes and participating in departmental assessment activities, as appropriate.
  • Performing other instructional duties and responsibilities consistent with the position.
