About The Position

The MLS Legal department is seeking a Paralegal to assist the Business Affairs team with supporting commercial contracts, reviewing marketing assets and department management needs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience at a top tier law firm and/or corporate legal department
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Paralegal certificate (or similar credential)
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated individual with outstanding organizational and analytical skills
  • Experience with commercial contracts and confidentiality agreements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to proofread material for grammatical or spelling errors
  • Sound business judgement, and flexibility/adaptability to prioritize, organize, manage and complete time sensitive matters without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced, team environment
  • Familiarity with invoicing systems such as Concur; project management systems such as Asana
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Commissioned New York State Notary Public
  • Knowledge and interest in the sport of soccer

Responsibilities

  • Assist (under supervision of MLS attorneys) with templated commercial agreements, including agency agreements, content/production agreements, influencer agreements, player appearance agreements and other vendor agreements.
  • Support Counsel, with the review of marketing assets (including, brand spots, emails and social media posts) across MLS/SUM properties
  • Create checklists and other materials to support MLS’ business teams (inclusive of the marketing, events and communication teams)
  • Additional responsibilities and special projects, as assigned.
