About The Position

Perform numerous functions including processing deposits, withdrawals, posting to general ledger accounts, cashing negotiable items, processing loan payments, savings bonds, and cashier’s checks while promoting the bank’s products and services and providing excellent customer service. The role involves efficient, effective, and accurate performance of Teller functions, representing the bank in a courteous and professional manner. It also includes establishing and maintaining effective business relations with clients, ensuring prompt resolution of requests and inquiries, and maintaining customer information privacy. The position requires coordination with area personnel and management, assisting with training, keeping supervisors informed, and completing reports accurately. Additional duties may include night drop functions and clerical tasks, ensuring work areas are clean and well-maintained, and cross-selling bank products and services.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least one year of related experience/cash handling required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.
  • Good math skills.
  • Good typing skills.
  • Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment including adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin, and money counting machines, and telephone.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios, percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a slow rate; and define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation.
  • Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs.
  • Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tenses and good vocabulary.

Responsibilities

  • Process deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
  • Cash checks and other negotiable instruments for clients.
  • Examine documents for endorsements and negotiability.
  • Process transfers between accounts.
  • Sell traveler’s checks, official checks, and money orders.
  • Process credit card cash advances.
  • Verify and balance cash daily, detecting and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Offer other Bank products to meet customer needs and strengthen relationships.
  • Follow Teller procedures consistently and adhere to compliance requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective, professional business relations with clients.
  • Ensure client requests and inquiries are promptly resolved.
  • Operate online teller terminal.
  • Maintain privacy of customer information.
  • Assist area personnel as required.
  • Assist with training or orientation as needed.
  • Keep supervisor informed of area activities and any problems or concerns.
  • Complete required reports and records accurately and promptly.
  • Attend meetings and training classes.
  • Perform night drop functions as assigned.
  • Perform related clerical duties as assigned.
